Pardon the acronyms, but with news as big as this, we can’t help but follow David Spade’s famed SNL character’s advice.
To the business at hand… We have long recognized payment security as a core feature of OvationTix; our expanding partnerships have OvationTix operating with venues that, understandably, want to ensure secure transactions for their patrons and minimize liability. This can be especially true for college/university campuses and larger municipal and nonprofit entities but security is important to all of us.
These larger entities and many stand-alone partners interested in ensuring secure transactions for their customers now have a PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry-Data Security Standard) P2PE (Point-to-Point Encryption) secure payment solution available through OvationTix. This is available to all current OvationTix partners, so the only arts organizations experiencing FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) are those using other ticketing and donation solutions.
How does it work? Have your IT people call our IT people, but in a nutshell, payment is securely encrypted on a PCI-validated device at the point-of-sale (your development or box office) and transacted through a secure channel that may keep your computers and other hardware “out of scope” of PCI compliance.
This offering has lots of benefits including simplifying PCI-DSS compliance procedures and decreasing costs, convenient software set-up, affordable hardware, and no changes for your donor or ticket purchase processes on the web. PCI compliance is a complex matter, however, and this optional enhancement may require configuration work on a new merchant account.
Please review your company’s own PCI-DSS compliance needs and give your account executive a call so we can be as helpful as possible. SYL!
